A few thoughts about me
My name is Rita.
I was born in a small city in central Portugal, under a Balsamic Moon in Pisces.
As many other human beings, I lost many pieces of myself to feel connected to others. I know now we all do that when the threat of being alone becomes unbearable.
It’s been a long journey back home. A home that is much bigger than my thoughts or my beliefs. It’s a place with flesh and bones, where my individual needs are real and my voice is vibration.
Where movement and sensation become my first language. Where the intensity of my aliveness is not so scary, and the emptiness of not feeling can also be lovingly familiar.
Or is it even more than that…
Home became the multi-dimentional space imbedded in the relationships between my physicality and everything around me. The metaphysical experience of being alive in a shapeshifting body, with bridges that we learned to call boundaries by the fear of not coming back.
I was born uncomplete, and I will die incomplete.
In the meantime, I try to consciously travel between mind and body, and I learn to embrace everyday with a little more devotion, patience and love, the somatic mystery of being alive.
Training and professional experience
I completed my academic training in Nursing in 2010, by the Nursing School of Coimbra, and began my clinical professional practice that same year.
Over the years, along with my recovery from an eating disorder and my self-development journey, I became interested in different modalities to support other people in their transformational paths. This led me to search and try other ways to deal with pain, suffering and our psychophysiological blocks.
In 2021 I completed the Breathwork Instructor Course, by Michaël Bijker (YACEP®) and the Inner Voice Facilitator Training, by Jess Lively.
By that time, I was already fully immersed in the studies and training of Somatic Experiencing (SE™), having completed my certification as an SE Practitioner after 2 years of supervised practice, supporting clients from different corners of the world in their individual journeys back to their bodies, with a more regulated nervous system and an increased capacity to engage with life.
In 2023 I have completed the Level 1 Online NARM Basics Training, designed to work with clients or populations dealing with complex trauma.
I keep developing my studies in embodied therapeutic and spiritual practices with mentors like Sónia Gomes (Soma-Embodiment) and Joshua Schrei (The Mythic Body).
In addition to my private practice as a nurse and trauma therapist, I also collaborate as an assistant in SE Practitioner Trainings (SE International), and as a somatic educator/facilitator in retreats or events that aim to embrace our mental, physical and spiritual experience as one.
"I believe that we’re infinite. Our human experience is part of a dynamic landscape, where we are deeply connected with everything around us. The beauty of it all is revealed when we emobody the roots of that connection."
